Company Profile: The Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) helps to create positive economic growth and development on the Kitsap Peninsula by effectively marketing the area as a desirable visitor destination.
Objective: Kitsap Peninsula is a very beautiful area full of nature and history. The VCB decided to "showcase" this history by producing the Heritage Guide, a brochure featuring museums, points of interest and other cultural tourist spots. This brochure would be appearing on ferries and in hotels around Washington. It needed to instantly communicate enough of a historical feel that would stand out amongst competing tourism brochures.
Design & Color Theory: The importance of imagery that could tell a story was the foundation of the entire design. The naval shipyard, an indian woman, a log cutter and family portrait adorn the front of the brochure with a technique applied to the photos to making them uniquely surreal. Inside, photos along the top are representative of the area. The listing of museums, places and points of interest are inside with contact info., brief descriptions and hours of operations. The map on the back corresponds to the numbers inside to show visitors the general vicinity of the tourist locale they are interested in. Muted browns, greens and blues play on the softness of the photos and keep the piece feeling natural.
